The Tontons are about to head out on another tour, with a kickoff show set for tomorrow night at Fitzgerald’s. Also appearing are well known psych-poppers Wild Moccasins, as well as new band A Sea Es, who will be making their debut.

Woke up this morning to find a new video from Houston’s self-proclaimed Rap Mayor in my inbox. “The Devastation / Clarity” explores two tracks from the middle of hasHBrown’s Break Something album which came out late last year. If you missed it, head over to rapmayor.com and grab it. You can snatch the album for free, but I’d recommend at least dropping a tip in the jar in exchange for some of these well-crafted rhymes.

Days before Christmas, I happened to zip in to Cactus Music to nab a couple albums for my dad. Lo and behold, what should I chance upon finding at the counter but a limited edition Christmas album from Buxton’s Sergio Trevino, featuring appearances by Haley Barnes and Will Van Horn. I snagged it immediately, and let it delight my ears in the car for the rest of my shopping day.

While Christmas may have come and gone, and I believe the physical copies are sold out, the collection of tunes can (and should) be added to your collection thanks to the internet. Sergio’s posted them at his Bandcamp page, available for streaming and a scant five bucks will land you a download. Listen below, or go buy it from the site.

Yep, you folks get another one from Texas this week, this time from the Houston area in the form of the debut single from Weird Party out on Sex & Death Records. Containing former members of Fatal Flying Guilloteens and Sugar Shack, I’ve seen them described as some sort of super group….

Weird Party gets a nice little review for their excellent Honey Slides/Sarah Palin 7-inch. Perhaps this will persuade you to purchase it?
