Upcoming Releases
A couple recent conversations have revealed that there will be a Black Congress LP out around April, and that Grandfather Child’s LP on New West will likely be out in May.
The new Buxton album comes out in late January, by the way.
Friday, September 2nd @ Rudyard’s (2010 Waugh)
with Black Congress and The Men
$7. 9pm.
This is going to be one hell of a show, certain to be loud and sweaty, and likely loaded with tattoos.
In my opinion, Black Congress and Weird Party are two of the better acts in town at the moment, and they’re fun to watch. I’m not sure how they’ll confine Shelby Hohl or Bryan Jackson to the stage. In fact, I’ll bet right now that you’ll find both of them breaking into the crowd.
I believe the poster is by Dann Miller.

Tonight, Weird Party finally puts out a proper release, their Honey Slides / Sarah Palin 7-inch. The free show at Mango’s also features The Mahas, Black Congress, and Titan Blood - the former and latter of which will have a new split cassette (yes, cassette) on hand that is limited to 40 copies.
As previously mentioned, Fitzgerald’s will be rebooting on September 23rd. This show will be $5 for guaranteed admission, or if you’re over 21 you can RSVP to drums@pegstar.net to get in for free - until the show hits capacity, that is.
We’d like to underscore the fact that this show has four fantastic local [ok, Leg Sweeper is from Dallas, but they’ve slept on our floor before and are kickass dudes] bands that we really think everyone in this town needs to see.
So, we’ll see you at the new Fitz on the 23rd, right?
We’ve been in love with this poster since it first popped up about two months ago. This here promises to be a rather excellent show with a heavy lineup. What should definitely be noted, however, is that this will be a record release for headliners Black Congress. What’s on your Saturday calendar, Creed? Yeah, right.
