Mastodon Signing At Cactus Music Thursday
Georgian metal-sleuths Mastodon are in town on Thursday. Their certain-to-be epic show at Fitzgerald’s is already sold out, but fans have the opportunity to meet the band during an in-store signing at Cactus Music that afternoon.
Fans who purchase Mastodon’s The Hunter on CD or any title on vinyl from Reprise Records will receive a wristband that will guarantee a place in line to meet the band.
Note: All fans are welcome, and no purchase is necessary, but fans presenting wristbands will receive priority placement in line.
The signing will be held from 4:30 - 6 pm on Thursday. Cactus Music is located at 2110 Portsmouth, Houston TX 77098. For more information visit cactusmusictx.com or call 713-526-9272.

Tonight, tonight! Head out to Fitzgerald’s and swim in the murky, howling, fuzzed-out psychedelia that is a Black Angels show.
Poster (which I love) by Will Harrison.
This happens tomorrow, if you’re so inclined.
In case you weren’t already aware, this is coming to Fitzgerald’s next week.
Who’s Big Freedia? Just watch this video I shot at FunFunFun Fest 2010. It’s probably NSFW, just in case you’re at a cubicle.

Pure Rubbish is playing a reunion show tonight. Check out the interview I did with Evan Dunivan, the drummer, for the Houston Press.
Dryvetyme Onlyne: Wild Moccasins East Coast Tour Kick-Off Show 10/08/2011
Houston! Once again, it’s time to provide a proper send-off to one of city’s most talented young acts. That’s right - Wild Moccasins are leaving town for a few weeks in order to have a bit of fun, play a few songs, and remind the rest of America that Space City isn’t solely enamored with country music and hip-hop (not that there’s anything wrong with that).
Specifically, this rollicking quintet will be bringing it’s excellent brand of indie-pop to Fitzgerald’s this Saturday night, 10/08/2011. Doors open at 8pm, it will cost you only $8.00 to enter those doors, and there are two excellent opening acts: Little Lo (Austin, TX) and The Mathletes (Houston, TX).
It looks to be a fantastic night filled with friends, fun, and great music!
I was just thinking to myself that I needed to post about this show when I ran across Adam’s entry this morning. He’s said pretty much everything that needs to be said, so I thought I’d just let this suffice.
(Hopefully I can get Adam to begin contributing posts to HTR directly, instead of just reblogging him. Hint hint.)

It’s also not too late to add this Colour Revolt show to your agenda with a stop at Fitzgerald’s on Saturday night. Featherface are some really talented kids, and The Cradle, Colour Revolt’s latest effort, is a rather fantastic record.
This poster’s a collection of Timothy Dorsey artwork, by the way.
