From Wilco’s show at Verizon in May.

“Live In Ruin”, The Energy
Yuss. The vocals get a little difficult to hear at points, but Arthur and Co. are fantastic in this clip from Fitzgerald’s. I’m especially fond of this move at 3:26.
Shot by Mark Armes, whom I just profiled for the Houston Press 100 Creatives series.
Tonight: The Mink Turns 5
Jeebus. The Mink is already five years old? That “bartenders name the price” from 9-11 pm sounds purdy darn dangerous, too.
Wait, a 7” from Young Girls, too?
The Mink celebrates 5th anniversary this Friday
Good golly. Who’s going?
Showlist Houston: Saturday 10/22, Sunday 10/23
This is progress! Look, a whole weekend of shows listed on the site. You knew it could be done, right? Thanks for believing in the ol’ H-Town Rock. Here’s a showlist for Saturday and Sunday.

Personally speaking, if multiplicity were possible we’d be several places on Saturday: Bloody Beetroots at House of Blues, The Drunks LP release at Rudz, Linus Pauling Quartet’s release at Khon’s, and Indie Houston’s two-year bash/Giant Princess release. Jeezy Pete’s, that’s a lot of stuff being released this weekend.
As it is, we’ll probably hit Cactus for LP4 and Los Skarnales before trekking up to Fitz for the aforementioned Indie Houston party.
As for Sunday, our pals in Kennedy Bakery are putting out an album, too, and they’ve got Chase Hamblin for support. If we could sneak our way in, you can bet that we’d be at Rick Ross’ Boss of all Bosses tour, which is practically guaranteed to have a cluster of guest appearances by notable, heavy-hitting Houstonians like Slim Thugga, Bun B, and possibly Trae. Thundering metal wunderkinds Valient Thorr aren’t to be missed, though, and you can be sure that Rudyard’s will be packed upstairs.

It’s been well reported around the internet already, so you really shouldn’t have an excuse for missing this. But if you haven’t seen Funwunce Supergroup’s video for the LCD Soundsystem track Home, go watch it.
Admittedly, when we first saw the casting call asking for revelers, our hopes for the magnitude of the finished product sank. Really? Just folks partying?
Well, it’s certainly not just partying. It’s an amazing video, with a storyline and shot after fantastic shot that makes Houston look pretty darn good. Well done, Funwunce fellows, and we’re sorry we ever doubted you.

Here’s another video shot in Houston for an out-of-town artist. This track from 1990, off New Jersey hip-hop artist YZ’s album Sons Of The Father features several recognizable locations, including some rightfully referenced skyscrapers and an opening shot at the corner of Dowling & Texas.

P.S. If you feel like tipping us off to a video shot in town, feel free to click the ol’ Contribute link at the top of the page.
Lately we’ve had a few videos tipped to us that feature Houston in the background. This one from British rockers Inspiral Carpets, forefathers to Oasis and a host of other bands, has a selection of backgrounds from our fair city. You’ll catch Johnson Space Center and some of what appears to be Pasadena and the downtown skyline. The best reference is in the chorus, though:
Saturn 5
You really were the greatest sight
Stretching out on a summer’s day
Houston is calling me back to her
