Dig This Vol. VII - Rocks Off

Well, it seems that Young Girls is ending, like far too many good Houston acts do. Before that, they’ll open for Davila 666 on Saturday, though, so catch them while you can.

(Edit: Pete Tijerina chimed up to inform us that Young Girls is not breaking up, but rather taking a break to record. Hooray! Sorry for any confusion.)

The newest installment of Dig This features Western Standards, Dead Mineral, Young Girls, Eli, and Cast Away.

If you missed last week’s post, check it out to discover Peloton, Titan Blood, Coxcombs, Papaya, and Football, Etc.

All Ears: Peloton - Twist Off Your Head!

If you’ve been keeping up with the Guilt Party movement and are anxiously awaiting the Bummer Tape release, you should probably first familiarize yourself with Peloton.

We must preface this post by saying that, given the recent surge of H-Town album releases, this EP is unlike anything we’ve heard.

With that being said, the H-Town post-hardcore trio put their EP on Bandcamp today au gratis (FREE.99, Y’ALL.) Twist Off Your Head is set to be released in December.

Even though hardcore isn’t our thing (as of now), the standout track, “Kim Deal/ Kim Gordon”, initially appealed to our feminine curiosity. After hearing the wailing intro: “My community has become immune to me,” we were sucked into the sex-like arrangement, building on a hardcore riff that left us wanting more. As is life.

Even though we’re totally stoked on what Guilt Party might bring us in the next couple of months, Twist Off Your Head! serves as an equally titillating side dish. Give it a listen and turn it the fuck up.

(Ed. Note: Many thanks to Allison Wagoner for joining our ranks. We’re happy to have her on the team. - Marc)
