The Busy Kids are one of my favorite new bands to watch in Houston. It’s sloppy, poppy, fun punk played by four girls - fronted by Niki Sevven of Something Fierce. For all its imprecision, it is damn fun. You really can’t help but love them when you see them live - which you can do tonight, when they play at Mango’s with White Crime and Black Wine.
This is the only recording that’s surfaced so far, but hopefully we’ll see a proper release from the group in the near future.

Giant Steps - In My Room (by Lone Star State of Depression)
Sweet. The newest copy of Peter Lee’s zine Lone Star State of Depression is out now. You can snag a copy at Domy Books.
The first 10 copies come with a CD featuring songs by Kirke Campbell, whom you might know from Teenage Kicks and a bunch of other bands.
