Shameless Plug: Free Prairie Cadets Show Saturday

Edit: Lineup changed! Prairie Cadets is now the first band to play.

My band, Prairie Cadets, is playing a free show this Saturday night at Shoeshine Charley’s Big Top Lounge. Also on the bill are Howler (Austin) and Houston’s own Second Lovers.

The show starts at 9 pm sharp, so get there early. We open, Second Lovers plays second, and Howler closes out the night. This will also be the Houston version of Howler’s release show for their Six Gun EP.

It’s all free as dirt, and Big Top is a fun bar. Hope to see you there.

Side Project Saturday at Mango’s. I wanted to take a quick minute to spotlight Saturday’s show at Mango’s, as it features a brand new local band, Mikey & The Drags. The Drags include former McKenzies frontman Miguel Ponce, and will be making their debut with this gig. I believe this is also the first show for Mario Rodriguez’s Bang Bangz project - you might know Mario from Tax The Wolf. Fernando of Somosuno trots out his well-versed side project Papaya, and Second Lovers rounds out the bill. All this will run you a scant five bones. Thumbs up to Eric Castorena on the poster design, by the way.
