Tonight: Danneurysm Rides Again
Family is coming into town for the week, so today is a giant cleaning day. Thankfully, I get to reward myself at the end of the day with a free show at The Continental Club featuring Dann Miller’s awesome Nirvana tribute, Danneurysm, and a set from super-great punkers The Energy.
Whatever your obligations for the day are, reward yourself tonight. Come out to the show.
Just got our review copy of Titan Blood’s “Too Much Talk” seven-inch in the mail today. Look for a review to come soon - but not until next week, as I’ll be at FFF Fest this weekend.
If you’re into punk, this is one of the best shows of the year for you. Not only are the bands among Houston’s top ranks, but also the DJs have some impressive collections onto which they’ll drop the lucky needles. Here’s a handy Facebook event so you can let all your punk friends know you’re going.

“Live In Ruin”, The Energy
Yuss. The vocals get a little difficult to hear at points, but Arthur and Co. are fantastic in this clip from Fitzgerald’s. I’m especially fond of this move at 3:26.
Shot by Mark Armes, whom I just profiled for the Houston Press 100 Creatives series.
The Energy’s “Get Split” Now Available
The long-awaited physical copies of The Energy’s second album, Get Split, are now available. After a slight delay, Houstonians can now find them at Sound Exchange and Cactus Music, with copies to be dropped at Vinal Edge later this week.
Copies of the record can also be ordered through the Team Science Records website, as well. I think it’s safe to assume that pre-orders are shipping now as well.
So there’s a free show on Wednesday night at Mango’s, and H-Town Rock is of the opinion that you should be in attendance.
The Energy is a damn good band. They just finished up their second album, too.
Born Liars is teasing that this may be their final Houston show. Or maybe it’ll be in November. Either way, catch ‘em before they’re gone.
Did I say it’s free? ‘Cause it’s free.
The Energy plays live at Cactus Music this Saturday. Oh yes. We’re big fans, if you didn’t know already. That’s why you’ll find us there, sipping on some Saint Arnold brew and flipping records, waiting for the band to start.
How can you not love that flyer? We want one.
Also of note is the fact that Austin’s Leatherbag will be performing at 3 pm. Looks like it’ll be a two show, break for Freebird’s or Amy’s Ice Cream, getting day drunk sort of Saturday. Feel free to join us.
